Apollo Bog Week Two

August 20

We discussed passing out agendas to our first block classes.

We are all to log in to the blog as Traci. Seek information via private email if you don't know how to do it. Each team will be posting the minutes of their meetings.

Kevin asks that we give out drachmas for perfect attendance. He also has the idea of writing his name with a sharpie in the back of the student agendas. He will number 1, 2, 3 under it and that will be his bathroom pass for each nine weeks.

Field day: Jamie suggests is last only 1/2 day and be in the afternoon. We can hold it in October and call it the Fall Fest. We could also send home fliers soliciting parent volunteers. In the spring, we could have another event and call it the Spring Fling, and it could be a dance with a d.j., etc.

We all want to try to get the phone calls in to the parents.

Traci brings it to our attention that we now have a full-time social worker on campus to whom we make refer students for counseling.

August 22

Sarah Rodrigue will have an edible cell project due on 9/3/08.

English teachers share the semester long project requirements involving Louisiana coastline, etc.

Leveling: our numbers are distorted according to Traci. There are too many kids enrolled in Geometry.

We were previously having trouble getting to the blog. However, Traci helped out with the problem, and we've discovered that Matt is working some magic for us regarding the blog. We await his updates.

We will do thumbs next week--1/2 and 1/2.

Keep calling parents.

For open house: teachers will get together as teams in one room to speak to parents. Thumbs up, heads up will be explained.

Freshman Field Day is set for October 9th, and we hope to have Glen Dorsey attend.

Apollo Blog Week One

8/12/08

We discussed SSR and its implementation.

Drue introduced the Cornell note-taking method and recommended it as a good way to teach kids to take down information.
We agreed that we should make positivie phone calls to parents.
Reward the kids with good behavior and good habits with drachmas.

8/13/08

Discussed the blog and found we have been denied access. We will try to see of Lorna can help.

We are not doing PBS yet. There is no more candy in room 219 to be given out. We plan to flood the freshmen with drachmas to get them started.

We are going to have students who are bilingual to help those who speak no English. We noted that transliterators are accompanying the deaf students to class, and that seems to be working well.

Testing

This post is a test, the previous House of Sparta blog didn't give me the ability to update layouts or the template. Comment on what you think.... Also, maybe each team could have their own font color?
